The app
Is Verto really free?
Yes. No subscription, and no limit on the number of files you convert.
Which Macs does it run on?
Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later), on macOS 13 Ventura or later. Macs with Intel processors aren’t supported.
Do my files leave my Mac?
No. Everything is converted right on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded. Your own files convert even without an internet connection — only a pasted link needs one, to fetch the file.
Can I change the app’s language?
Verto speaks the language of your Mac, if it’s one of its seven. To choose another one, open the app’s Settings (⌘,).
How do I get new versions?
Turn on “New versions” in your account, and we’ll send you an email each time one is out.
Files and links
What can Verto convert?
Images, video, audio and PDFs. Photos in HEIC become PNG or JPEG, a video can come out as audio only, a batch of images can become a single PDF, and the pages of a PDF can become images.
Where do converted files go?
Next to the original, by default; files from a link go to your Downloads folder. You can choose another folder in the app’s Settings. And nothing is ever overwritten: if a file with the same name is already there, the new one gets another name.
Which links can I paste?
A direct link to a file, or a page from a video or music platform. A playlist comes in whole, up to 100 items. Some services lock their content or only show it once you’re signed in: Verto tells you when a link can’t be used.
A file didn’t convert. What now?
The rest of the batch carries on without it. The file may be damaged, or in a format Verto can’t read. If it keeps happening, write to us and say what kind of file it is.
Your account
Why do I need an account to download Verto?
It lets us know who uses Verto and — only if you ask — tell you when a new version is out. Your address serves your account and the emails you chose, nothing else.
I didn’t get the confirmation email.
It can take a few minutes, and it sometimes lands in the spam folder. Still nothing? Sign in, and you can have the link sent again. An account that’s never confirmed is deleted after 7 days, so you can also just start over.
I forgot my password.
Ask for a link to choose a new one: it comes by email and is valid for one hour.
How do I stop the emails?
In your account, under Emails, turn off what you don’t want. Both stay off unless you turn them on. Emails about the account itself — confirming your address, resetting your password — only come when you ask for them.
How do I delete my account?
In your account, at the bottom of the page. It’s immediate and final: everything linked to the account is erased. Verto keeps working on your Mac.
